Attic insulation is the service we install most often, because the attic is where a house loses the largest share of its heat and where a top-up returns the most for the money. We air seal the ceiling, fit baffles at the eaves and blow cellulose to the recommended depth, and every job is fully insured.
Most attics are finished in one day, and the written scope names the depth you are paying for before we start.
Most attics we open in Innisfil hold between R-20 and R-40, and the current recommendation for this part of Ontario is R-50 to R-60. The Alcona and Lefroy subdivisions that went up through the 1990s and 2000s were insulated to the code of their year, which called for far less than today's target. The older houses in Stroud, Churchill and Cookstown were often given a few inches of loose fill that has since settled to half its depth.
The town has grown by more than eighteen percent since 2016, so there are plenty of newer houses too, and those are usually fine on depth but poor on the detail work around hatches, pot lights and the wall to the garage. An attic is only as good as its thinnest spot.
Blown-in cellulose is our first choice for an open attic in Innisfil. Air sealing is part of every attic insulation job we do, because warm air leaking through the ceiling is what melts the snow on an Innisfil roof and builds the ice dam at the eave. Raccoons and squirrels find their way into a lot of attics on the treed shore lots around Big Bay Point and Sandy Cove, and once loose fill has been used as a nest it is not something to build over.

Blown-in attic insulation in Innisfil runs about $1.50 to $2.50 a square foot installed, so a typical 1,200 square foot attic is roughly $1,800 to $3,000 for a top-up to R-60. Air sealing adds about $500 to $1,500 depending on the number of penetrations, baffles run a few dollars each, and a new insulated hatch cover is around $200 to $300 installed.
